Today in class as we went through scenes in the movie Heat Wave many interesting ideas rose through discussion. The most interesting ideas that we spoke about were the ideas in the scene of Madea in the care with the white wife and the scene of J.T. in the office with the counselor. In the scene with Madea and the white wife the two women are in the car and Madea looks out the window. The white wife puts her hand out foe Madea to grab and soon enough Madea grabs the lady's hand. She grabs her hand, holds on tight, and looks out the window with glossy eyes. This scene showed me as we spoke about in class that the black woman has much more power then they think they have. It can be said that the role of black women is to unify those who are the furthest away. The violence will take place all over and some way some how they will always find the way to bring those fighting close together to break the separation between those who are angry and suffering. Another scene that stood out to me in today's discussion was the scene of when J.T. went to see his counselor to have a talk about his future. He told his counselor that in the future he wanted to be a pilot like his grandfather. She told him that with the grades he had and the different classes that he had to take that he would not make it to be a pilot. She told him that maybe he should look into another field like auto mechanics. This scene shows how much of an influence authority has on people in society. Once someone that is seen as someone in charge anything they say is taken like its the "law" or like its the only answer. J.T. counselor thought she was doing the right thing by telling J.T. this now before he got his hopes up and the real world reject him. These scenes show the ideas that we always see our selves as the heroes and those who are different from us are the problem. We all need to realize that when we as a people can stand up and point the finger at ourselves who are really the reasons for all our actions we can then rise and stop most of the violence.
